Everyday Rituals



The exhibition "Everyday Rituals" was made possible thanks to the collaboration with the Short Film Festival, a cultural and cinematographic highlight organized by the Clair Obscur association.

This event aims to showcase short films produced during architecture workshops at the Master level, as well as film productions created during the student workshop "La Pause" in February 2023 at the National School of Architecture of Bretagne.

Thus, the goal is to exhibit the possible connections between architecture and cinema through the theme of daily life, appealing to both seasoned and amateur audiences.

The everyday is familiar to everyone and unique to each individual. It is through a set of rites or rituals, whether they are physical, psychological, or social, that our actions take shape. These rituals consist of reproducible series of acts defined by codes and following a spatiotemporal dimension. They provide us with references and help us build our identity within society.

Through the intimate lens, this exhibition will take form within the cabinet of curiosities at the Hotel Pasteur. The various showcased projects will be approached through five themes:
— Founding,
— Producing,
— Consuming,
— Suspending,
— Unveiling.

These themes will be explored through the uniqueness of cabinets and drawers, the mystery of shelves, and the crackling grain of cathode-ray screens. Within this entity of a room filled with stolen secrets and stories to tell, the Synopsis Collective explores and questions the film medium by juxtaposing different scenes that stage everyday life.
