La joie du basculement
Réfléchir à notre monde en crise à travers un mode de pensée mythique peut être l’occasion d’une authentique re-création où l’ensemble du monde social, culturel et naturel est repensé sans culpabilité, sans peur, avec joie.
L’atelier Architecture de la foule de l’ENSAB encadré par Can Onaner et Mathilde Sari, Johanna Rocard, Damien Marchal et le collectif Synopsis proposent de s’immiscer à l’intérieur du Ball Theater pour en faire le laboratoire d’un univers mythique : celui d’un basculement joyeux ritualisé. Basculements du sommeil à l’éveil, du poids à la légèreté, de l’équilibre au déséquilibre, de l’ordre à l’informe, du calme à la révolte, de la peur au courage. Basculements d’un état à l’autre, individuels ou collectifs, physiques ou psychiques. Des affiches, des paroles, le mouvement des corps, et des sons, sont autant de dispositifs matériels et symboliques inventés sur place, qui constituent les rituels propres au Ball Theater.

Reflecting on our world in crisis through a mythical mode of thinking can be an opportunity for authentic re-creation, where the entire social, cultural, and natural world is reconsidered without guilt, without fear, but with joy.
The "Architecture of the Crowd Studio" at Rennes’s Architecture School, supervised by Can Onaner and Mathilde Sari invited Johanna Rocard, Damien Marchal, and the Synopsis Collective, to create a performative workshop inside the "Ball Theater" – the French Pavillion at 2023 Venice Architecture Biennale – and transform it into a laboratory of a mythical universe: one of a joyous ritualized tiltings. Tiltings from sleep to wakefulness, from heaviness to lightness, from balance to imbalance, from order to formlessness, from calmness to rebellion, from fear to courage. Shifts from one state to another, individual or collective, physical or psychic. Posters, words, the movement of bodies, and sounds are all material and symbolic devices invented on-site, which constitute the specific rituals of the Ball Theater.
